Remember & Recall - Knowledge Making & Sharing

The synonyms remember and recall, while nearly interchangeable have always had a nuanced range of meaning; the one an immersive re-experiencing of an event or moment of knowing, the other a pulling out of an abstracted fact or bit of information.

To remember requires the rememberer to re-enter the forest, walk amongst the trees, step along the path again.  It has a completeness to it.

The things you can recall can, like a log hauled out of the forest, be handed off, shared, communicated, shipped and milled.

Building knowledge requires both that you remember the forest, the context, the complete picture, and that you can ship the lumber, of the right size and shape, to where it's needed.
